Los pasados 14 y 15 de abril el centro acogió el I Torneo de Debate interescolar Averroes. Esta actividad viene a culminar tres años de andadura de la Asociación de Debate Averroes, que desde 2021 viene trabajando con profesorado y alumnado del centro las destrezas de la expresión oral, la argumentación y el pensamiento crítico. Después de las experiencias de tres torneos de debate internos, el centro ha dado el salto a organizar un torneo interescolar, invitando a centros del ámbito andaluz. Así, en este primer torneo participaron un total de 9 equipos de 6 centros diferentes, públicos, concertados y privados, de Córdoba y Jaén. El equipo ganador pertenecía al Colegio Trinidad, y quedó como subcampeón uno de los equipos del IES Averroes. Fue reconocida como mejor oradora del torneo Clara Pérez, alumna de primero de bachillerato de nuestro centro. La valoración general fue muy satisfactoria, y asistieron como jueces miembros del profesorado del propio IES Averroes, de la Universidad de Córdoba y de la Universidad de Almería, así como antiguos alumnos del centro que hoy cursan estudios en diferentes universidades españolas.
