Bruno estableció un nuevo modelo de Universo que se basaba en la idea de que un Dios infinito sólo podría haber creado un Universo infinito y no un Universo que tuviese límites. En sus escritos, publicados entre 1583 y 1585 en Londres, enseñaba que existían mundos extraterrestres en el Universo en los que era posible que hubiese vida.
Su visión del mundo era heliocéntrica. Consideraba además que las estrellas no eran otra cosa que soles lejanos, centros a su vez de otros sistemas planetarios.
