La espiral de Teodoro, también llamada caracola pitagórica, espiral pitagórica, espiral de Einstein o espiral de raíces cuadradas (será por nombres) es una espiral formada por triángulos rectángulos contiguos, atribuida a Teodoro de Cirene.
Teodoro de Cirene (465 a. C. – 398 a. C.) fue un filósofo y matemático griego nacido en Cirene, que probó la irracionalidad de las raíces de los números enteros no cuadrados (2, 3, 5, 6, 7…), al menos hasta 17, excepto la raíz cuadrada de 2 de la que ya se tenían noticias de su irracionalidad en épocas anteriores a Teodoro.
