El día 28 de abril se celebró la entrega de premios correspondiente a la XXI Gymkhana Matemática por Córdoba. Allí se dirigió la escuadra averroense, representada en esta ocasión por dos grupos, el equipo Exponente X formado por María Ruiz, Silvia Muñoz, Eva Mª Moreno y Sara Vázquez, de 2º de Bachillerato, y el de Los Fideos, formado por Silvia Herrera, Manuel Jesús Carmona, Laura Alhama y Sergio Ruiz, de 1º de Bachillerato. También les acompañaban Pedro Moreno y Esther Madera. No sabíamos la posición que habían obtenido, el secreto estaba muy bien guardado. Recordamos que simplemente estar allí ya tiene un mérito enorme, pues participaban un total de 179 equipos y sólo había seis premiados en ESO y dieciocho en Bachillerato. Comenzó la entrega de premios con los seis ganadores de la ESO, pero no nos preocupaba, allí no teníamos premio. A continuación empezaron por el clasificado (dentro de Bachillerato) en 18º posición. Subiendo, subiendo, llegamos a Los Fideos con un excelente 14º puesto. El ambiente se caldeaba. Las niñas de Exponente X no querían oír su nombre. Décima posición, quinta posición… Hasta que sólo quedaron dos. Y el speaker dijo: «en segunda posición, el equipo Exponente X, del IES Averroes». ¡Cómo aplaudimos! Un excelente puesto, mejorando el cuarto lugar que el año pasado consiguieron estas mismas chicas.
